Rumor: Microsoft poised to buy SEGA?

I found an interested article today while browsing GameTrailers.com. The guys over at XBOX 360 Wire are speculating that Microsoft has a big announcement up it’s sleeve for this year’s E3 (which begins mid-July). Microsoft is expected to make a ’shocking and desperate’ announcement at this years E3, which they believe will be the official acquisition of SEGA (now known as SEGA Sammy Corp.)

Here is a little teaser for you:

Microsoft are expected to make a ’shocking and desperate’ announcement at this years E3 – all we know is that it will be software related and nothing to do with hardware. It’s also no secret that Microsoft has had a very hard time in Japan with the 360 – SEGA might be the very company to help turn that around.”

I guess we will have to wait until E3 08 this July for any official word. If this is true, it definitely benefits Microsoft. Whether that will mean more sales in Japan would have to be seen.
